Frequently Asked Questions About Flynt:

  • Is he friendly?

    • Flynt typically doesn’t care much about strangers, although won’t say no to a good butt scratch!

  • What is a Shiloh Shepherd?

    • The Shiloh Shepherd is a large companion shepherd dog originally derived from a combination of herding and working breeds. Breed founder Tina M. Barber began working on the Shiloh in the 1970's, and in 1991 it was recognized as its own rare breed by ARBA (the American Rare Breed Association). The Shiloh is large, calm, and generally easier to handle than many working shepherd breeds. However, as with any dog, they do require significant socialization and structure from the time they are puppies. They are highly intelligent and can be protective of their family and home.

  • What is a Belgian Tervuren?

    • The Belgian Tervuren is a bright and self-assured herding dog of medium size, known to be affectionate and possessive with loved ones. Lots of hard work and challenging play is heaven for this tireless, do-it-all dog.

  • Why mix the two breeds?

    • Flynt and his littermates are part of an outcross project by the International Shiloh Shepherd Alliance. The goal of this project is to improve the Shiloh Shepherd breed health wise, structurally, and increasing genetic diversity within the breed.

    • Flynt and littermates will be bred back into Shilohs, and not mixed with more tervurens.
